After a 2004 full of bike problems we'd rather forget, jacksonracing has gone blue, Joe Harvey debuted his Stafford Motorcycles YZ250F at Calder Park on 22nd January at the Yamaha Supermoto Masters. Standard except for 17"wheels, a 320mm disc, ASR tuned suspension and an Over pipe, the bike was on the pace from first practice. Watering of the track before junior events gave us some grip problems in the heats but first time motarder Lewis Woods (Power of Dreams CRF250) showed his MX skills in the dirt and quickly mastered some tar ones to take the flag in both events. Fitting a new treaded tyre for the final solved the problem and although Woods took the holeshot , Joe stuck to him like glue for three laps till eventually he made a mistake and fell in the dirt section, letting Joe through and giving him a 500m buffer over Cameron Palmer (Top Gun CRF250). Joe crossed the line with a wheelstand and a lot of fresh air behind him.
It's great to see Supermotard back in Victoria and also to see "the park" being used for bikes again, hopefully the ball is now rolling for both Supermotard and Calder Park.
